“Big Hopes Big Future (BHBF) programme has been designed to help parents/carers and their children get ready for the important first steps of going to school or nursery. Our trained volunteers can provide carefully chosen resources and activities which will help parents/carers to:
- Engage with child’s early learning
- Accelerating speech and language development
- Establish good bedtime and morning routines
- Access local support and services
- Support parents to use positive reinforcement and praise
- Create a positive home learning environment
BHBF recognises that the home learning environment is one of the strongest influences on educational achievement. The aim of the programme is to close the attainment gap through strong adult attachment and engagement, so that children achieve age appropriate social, emotional and behavioural development in a safe and stimulating environment.
Our volunteers support parents to enjoy and see the value of play as part of their child’s development. We share a variety of tools with parents/carers for children to be able to thrive in nursery and school.”
